El Paso police responded to a stabbing murder on Wednesday night in northeast El Paso that resulted in the El Paso police SWAT team being called out to a home on the 11000 block of Rockdale.
Police were at the scene of the home sometime after 7 p.m.
El Paso police spokesman Javier Sambrano told KFOX-14 that a person was stabbed and taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Police officers on the scene told a KFOX-14 crew that the person who allegedly committed the stabbing had locked himself inside the home and that’s when the SWAT team was called in the get the person out of the home.
Police said after 9.p.m they detained someone who was not involved in the stabbing and that the suspect still had not yet been arrested.

Spring training is over now for the El Paso Diablos.
The season opener is Thursday morning as the Diablos take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 10:30am at Cohen Stadium.
“We hope to kind of turn this thing around a little bit. In the past few years, we haven’t done so well, so we are excited. The new ownership and the city of El Paso deserve a winner and that’s what we hope to bring,” said Gerardo Verastegui, Diablos hitting coach.
Admission for children at Thursday’s game is free.

A Las Cruces woman has been arrested for allegedly ripping off a Columbus resident for more than $20,000.
Patricia Garcia, 54, was arrested on Friday by authorities in Dona Ana County on charges of fraud over $20,000, computer access with intent to fraud and fraudulent use of a credit card over $20,000.
Garcia is listed as having a home in Luna County.
All charges are second degree felonies.
According to the Las Cruces Sun News, the victim is an 85-year-old man living in the village of Columbus who learned of the unauthorized access through his bank.
According to the Luna County Sheriff’s Office report, the victim said Garcia would impersonate him to sign into his account, which fell from about $100,000 to $30,000 over the course of their friendship, about one –and-a-half years.
The report states that Garcia persuaded him to give her access to the account and that Garcia is an employee at Santa Teresa High School.
